Bretaigne DAO strengthens its ties with Scotland and European networks

A new step has just been taken in the development of the relations of Bretaigne DAO — Breizh / Brittany with Scottish organisations and European civic networks.
Following our initial contact with Yes for EU, we received a particularly constructive reply from Sam Page, Vice Convenor, also addressed to Europe for Scotland.
Yes for EU confirmed that its network welcomes supporters from other European countries and that membership is open to people living outside Scotland. Damien JÉGO has therefore joined Yes for EU in a personal capacity, while discussions concerning cooperation between Bretaigne DAO and Scottish organisations are continuing separately.
This distinction is important: personal membership in Yes for EU does not amount to institutional membership for Bretaigne DAO.
An invitation for Europe Day 2027
The Yes for EU team has also invited us to take part in a future online meeting devoted to preparing Europe Day 2027, in order to exchange ideas and explore possible cooperations.
This invitation opens up a new avenue of dialogue between Brittany, Scotland and other European actors, especially around culture, languages, historical research, relations between Celtic nations and participation in European networks.
Yes for EU is notably working with Europe for Scotland on the project Scotland in the EU: Good for Scotland, Good for Europe, which has already led to meetings at the European Parliament. Europe for Scotland describes itself as a pan-European civil society initiative bringing together citizens from different European countries around Scotland’s future place in Europe.
Towards more cooperation between Celtic nations
These new exchanges complement the contacts already established by Bretaigne DAO with a range of actors in Brittany, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Ireland and pan-Celtic and European networks.
Our objective remains to develop direct, documented and constructive relations, while respecting the democratic choices specific to each territory, and to encourage exchanges relating in particular to: historical and archival heritage; Celtic languages and cultures; European cooperation; exchanges between civil society organisations; historical research and Brittany’s international relations; and the various European experiences of territorial representation and democratic self-determination.
Yes for EU has also sent us its report on its approach to the European Parliament, as well as a presentation of the discussion “The Celtic Alliance – A Game Changer!”. We will now study these documents and prepare our participation in the next exchanges.
